Authenticated code execution via unchecked ZIP extraction
Published Dec 18, 2025 · Updated Dec 18, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in File Thingie 2.5.7 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary system commands via a PHP ZIP archive. The ft2.php unzip action validates only the outer .zip name, then invokes the system unzip utility without checking extracted entries, allowing a PHP script to be written beneath the served file directory. A valid File Thingie account with upload and file-action permissions is required; requesting the extracted script executes commands with the web server process privileges.
