CVE-2023-5394Network attack vector

Remote code execution via oversized GCL hostname

Published Apr 11, 2024 · Updated Aug 9, 2024

Stack overflow in Experion Server allows remote attackers to execute code by sending a malformed GCL message with an oversized hostname. GCL message handling accepts a hostname larger than the server's stack buffer, causing adjacent stack memory to be overwritten. Network access to the GCL service and a specially malformed message are required; successful exploitation executes code or interrupts the server.
