Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Dec 17, 2025 · Updated Dec 17, 2025
Unquoted service path in Binisoft USB Flash Drives Control 4.1.0.0 allows local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges. The usbcs service registers C:\Program Files\USB Flash Drives Control\usbcs.exe without quotation marks, allowing Windows path parsing to select an attacker-planted executable from an earlier path segment. Local filesystem access to a searched parent path is required; service startup then runs the planted executable as LocalSystem.
