Authenticated script execution via unneutralized article excerpts
Published Dec 17, 2025 · Updated Dec 17, 2025
Stored XSS in Textpattern CMS 4.8.8 allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript in other users' browsers via article excerpts. The article editor stores an Excerpt value containing a closing quote and script element, then renders it without neutralizing the markup. An authenticated content editor must save the payload and another user must view the article, exposing data and actions available to that viewer's session.
