Stored script execution via unsanitized SVG upload
Published Dec 15, 2025 · Updated Dec 15, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in webEdition CMS 2.9.8.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through uploaded SVG media. The media save request at /webEdition/we_cmd.php accepts an SVG containing an embedded script and stores it for later viewing without neutralizing the active content. A valid CMS account is required, and script execution occurs in another user's browser context when that user views the uploaded image.
