Authenticated command execution via PHP description injection
Published Dec 15, 2025 · Updated Dec 15, 2025
Code injection in webEdition CMS 2.9.8.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute system commands through PHP page creation. The PHP-page creation path accepts PHP tags in the document description and writes that value into a web-accessible .php page without neutralizing executable code. An authenticated CMS account able to create PHP pages is required; loading the generated page runs commands with the web server process's permissions.
