CVE-2023-53879Public exploit

Local application crash via oversized Contact field

Published Dec 15, 2025 · Updated Dec 15, 2025

Stack buffer overflow in EYEMAX NVClient 5.0 allows local users to crash the application through the user Contact field. The Contact-field handler accepts an 846-byte pasted value and overwrites adjacent stack memory instead of enforcing the destination buffer's capacity. Exploitation requires an interactive user to log in, open Config, User, and Add users, paste the payload, and submit the form; the demonstrated consequence is a client crash.
