Authenticated RCE via executable PHP media upload
Published Dec 15, 2025 · Updated Dec 15, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in Webigniter 28.7.23 allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code through the media function. The media function accepts PHP files as media and stores them where the application server can execute them, without restricting the dangerous file type. Any created account is sufficient to place a PHP script on the server and invoke it remotely, yielding code execution in the application server's security context.
