Unspecified impact via Netlink state data race
Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Race condition in the Linux kernel allows local users to cause unspecified impact through concurrent Netlink operations. netlink_recvmsg() and netlink_native_seq_show() read nlk->cb_running without synchronization while netlink dump paths write it, allowing the byte to change during a read. Local system calls reach the racing paths, but the Linux kernel CVE team has not published a concrete security consequence.
