Sound-card reprobe failure via unreleased MBHC resources
Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Resource leakage in the ASoC WCD MBHC codec in Linux causes affected systems to reject sound-card reprobes after probe deferral. The wcd-mbhc-v2 component ties MBHC allocations and interrupt registrations to the device lifetime instead of releasing them when component probing fails or the component is removed. Reprobing a system with the affected Qualcomm WCD codec then encounters duplicate interrupt ownership and aborts codec and sound-card initialization.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
