Device attribution loss via generic devlink warning
Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
An observability defect in Linux kernel branches beginning with 5.3 prevents attribution of an unset devlink port type. The devlink_port_type_warn work item emits a global warning without obtaining the containing port or its parent device. The condition arises only when a driver leaves a devlink port type unset; the defect obscures device identification but does not itself change port state.
