CVE-2023-53826

Invalid kernel memory access via unlocked UBI lookup

Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel UBI subsystem allows local users to trigger invalid memory access through a debugfs read race. The eraseblk_count_seq_show() path reads wl->ec after wl_entry_destroy() frees the same lookuptbl entry because the lookup lacks wl_lock serialization. Reachability requires a configured UBI device and access to its detailed erase-block debugfs file; the public record establishes no bounded consequence beyond invalid kernel memory access.
