CVE-2023-53803

Memory fault via unchecked SES descriptor read

Published Dec 9, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

A slab out-of-bounds read in the SCSI Enclosure Services driver in affected Linux releases allows attackers to trigger invalid memory access. The ses_enclosure_data_process() function advances addl_desc_ptr by a descriptor length, then reads addl_desc_ptr[1] before confirming that two bytes remain in diagnostic page 10. The path processes enclosure-supplied additional descriptors; public records establish a KASAN fault but not a broader consequence or attacker-controlled delivery path.
