Kernel crash via orphaned QuadSPI controller
Published Dec 8, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in affected Linux kernel 6.x branches allows attackers to trigger a kernel oops during Atmel QuadSPI removal. The atmel_qspi_remove() path exits when runtime resume fails without unregistering the SPI controller, while managed teardown unmaps its register space. The trigger requires an Atmel QuadSPI device, a failed runtime resume, device unbinding, and later use of the orphaned controller.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
