Service interruption via leaked vector configuration memory
Published Dec 8, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Memory leak in the Linux kernel UML vector driver allows local users to interrupt service through malformed interface configuration. In vector_config, a NULL return from uml_parse_vector_ifspec exits the error path without freeing the allocated params buffer. Reaching the flaw requires local access and the ability to supply UML vector interface parameters; repeated failures consume kernel memory.
