CVE-2023-53703

Undefined behavior via unchecked shift ranges

Published Oct 22, 2025 · Updated Oct 22, 2025

Shift-out-of-bounds in the Linux kernel AMD SFH HID driver allows local users to trigger undefined behavior during sensor report conversion. The float_to_int function shifts exp and shift values without first ensuring that their counts fit the destination integer range. Reachability requires compatible AMD Sensor Fusion Hub hardware and the affected driver; the upstream record demonstrates a UBSAN fault but specifies no further impact.
