Kernel panic via freed SCSI device access
Published Oct 4, 2025 · Updated Oct 4, 2025
Use-after-free in the SCSI core in Linux 6.2 allows local users to crash the kernel by triggering a failed command dispatch. After scsi_dispatch_cmd() returns failure, scsi_queue_rq() increments iorequest_cnt through cmd->device even though that device can already be freed. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and a failed SCSI dispatch; the documented consequence is a kernel panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
