CVE-2023-53562

Service interruption via unreleased VRAM buffer

Published Oct 4, 2025 · Updated Oct 4, 2025

Memory leak in the Linux kernel allows local users to consume VRAM and interrupt GPU service after a component-bind failure. The msm_drm_bind error path in drivers/gpu/drm/msm/msm_drv.c leaves the allocated VRAM buffer unreleased when a subcomponent fails to bind. Reachability requires the drm/msm driver to allocate VRAM and then encounter that initialization error; published material documents no remote trigger.
