CVE-2023-53422

Service interruption via unreleased fw_info read state

Published Sep 18, 2025 · Updated Sep 18, 2025

Memory leak in the iwlwifi firmware debugfs interface in Linux allows local users to consume kernel memory by fully reading fw_info. The fw_info end-of-file path returns NULL without freeing the status object used to track the debugfs read. Reachability requires local access to that debugfs file; repeated complete reads consume kernel memory and can interrupt service.
