Local kernel crash via uninitialized device pointer
Published Sep 17, 2025 · Updated Sep 17, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel 5.16 through 6.4.15 and 6.5 through 6.5.2 allows local users to crash it via unknown SSDB or PLD values. During sensor initialization, ipu_bridge_parse_rotation() and ipu_bridge_parse_orientation() pass sensor->adev to dev_warn() before that pointer is assigned. Reachability requires the affected Intel IPU bridge parsing path and an unknown firmware value; the documented consequence is an availability-only kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
