Local service interruption via leaked plane-state references
Published Sep 16, 2025 · Updated Sep 16, 2025
Resource leak in the Linux kernel MSM MDP5 display driver allows local users to exhaust memory and interrupt service. The mdp5_plane_reset function manually frees the prior plane state instead of calling __drm_atomic_helper_plane_destroy_state, so the plane_state->commit reference is not released. Reachability requires local low-privileged access and the MSM MDP5 display driver; repeated state resets consume kernel memory until service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
