CVE-2023-53320

Kernel memory corruption via oversized scatter-gather copy

Published Sep 16, 2025 · Updated Sep 16, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in the mpi3mr SCSI driver in Linux allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through a crafted BSG request. mpi3mr_get_all_tgt_info miscalculates the target-information buffer and passes the larger payload length to sg_copy_from_buffer. Reaching the copy requires root privileges or membership in the non-default disk group and access to an mpi3mr BSG device node.
