CVE-2023-5330Network attack vector

Denial of Service via unbounded OpenGraph cache

Published Oct 9, 2023 · Updated Sep 5, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in Mattermost Server 7.8.10 and earlier allows remote attackers to exhaust the OpenGraph cache via /api/v4/opengraph. The endpoint accepts specially crafted requests whose OpenGraph data is cached without a size limit, allowing repeated requests to consume available cache and memory capacity. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the bounded consequence is service interruption when the Mattermost server becomes unavailable.
