Kernel crash via unchecked receive-queue array
Published Sep 15, 2025 · Updated Sep 15, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux iwlwifi PCIe driver allows local users to crash the kernel through an MSI-X receive interrupt. The iwl_pcie_irq_rx_msix_handler function derives rxq from trans_pcie->rxq before verifying that the array exists, then dereferences rxq to schedule NAPI. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and affected Intel PCIe Wi-Fi hardware; a successful trigger interrupts the system through a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
