System crash via unchecked CRTC-state allocation
Published Sep 15, 2025 · Updated Sep 15, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel 5.3 through 6.2.2 allows local users to crash the system during an mdp5 CRTC reset. mdp5_crtc_reset() uses the result of kzalloc() without checking for allocation failure and passes the embedded CRTC state through the DRM reset helper. Low-privilege local access and the Qualcomm MSM mdp5 display path are required; the documented consequence is availability loss only.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
