CVE-2023-53238

Kernel memory corruption via off-by-one port check

Published Sep 15, 2025 · Updated Sep 15, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in the Hisilicon INNO USB2 PHY driver in Linux allows attackers to corrupt kernel memory during device probing. In hisi_inno_phy_probe(), the loop accepts a counter equal to INNO_PHY_PORT_NUM and then indexes the fixed-size priv->ports array on the next iteration. Reachability requires a matching Hisilicon PHY device-tree node with excess child entries; no remote request surface is reported.
