CVE-2023-53161

Application crash via discarded partial reads

Published Jul 28, 2025 · Updated Jul 28, 2025

Out-of-bounds array access in Sequoia PGP buffered-reader before 1.0.2 and 1.1.0 through 1.1.4 allows attackers to crash applications. Generic's buffered Read adapter returns an error before already-buffered partial data, violating the parser's repeat-read assumption and leading it to index past the available array. An attacker must control parsed input and trigger the affected partial-read-with-error path; Rust stops the access with a panic, so the result is a process crash without memory disclosure or modification.
