CVE-2023-53157Network attack vector

Unauthenticated process crash via undersized UDP datagram

Published Jul 27, 2025 · Updated Jul 28, 2025

Denial of service in Rosenpass before 0.2.1 allows remote attackers to crash the process with a one-byte UDP datagram. The message-decoding lens converts received byte slices into typed protocol views without first verifying their exact required size, so later field access panics on an undersized buffer. Any host that exposes the Rosenpass UDP listener can be interrupted without authentication or user interaction, while confidentiality and integrity remain unaffected.
