Kernel warning via sleeping atomic allocation
Published Mar 27, 2025 · Updated May 23, 2026
Improper locking in Linux 5.15.87 through 5.15.90 and other affected kernels allows local users to trigger a kernel warning. The octeontx2-pf receive-buffer allocation path keeps preemption disabled around a blockable GFP_KERNEL allocation, causing an atomic-context sleep in real-time kernels. Reachability requires an affected real-time kernel using the Marvell OcteonTX2 PF driver; the demonstrated result occurs during network-interface initialization.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
