Local service interruption via Bluetooth memory leak
Published Mar 27, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Memory leak in the Bluetooth hci_sync component in Linux 6.1 through 6.1.8 allows local users to exhaust kernel memory. When hci_cmd_sync_queue() fails in hci_update_adv_data(), the error path leaves the allocated inst_ptr object unreleased after its effective lifetime. Low-privileged local access is required, and repeated failures consume kernel memory until service is interrupted without disclosing or modifying data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
