Local kernel compromise via freed EDAC data
Published Mar 27, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Use-after-free in the QCOM EDAC driver in affected Linux kernels allows local users to compromise the system after the driver is reprobed. The driver gives the EDAC core an LLCC-owned llcc_driv_data pointer as private data, causing EDAC release logic to free memory still referenced as platform data. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and a Qualcomm LLCC/EDAC configuration; successful use can expose or alter kernel data or crash the system.
