Stored script execution via unsanitized category name
Published Sep 29, 2023 · Updated Sep 23, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in SourceCodester Expense Tracker App 1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser. The Category Handler accepts category_name in endpoint/add_category.php and stores it without neutralizing HTML or script before later display. Submitting a category requires application access, and exploitation requires another user to view the saved category; the script runs in that viewer's application context.
