CVE-2023-52800

Kernel crash via ath11k pktlog use-after-free

Published May 21, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel ath11k driver before 6.7 allows local users with high privileges to crash the system via HTT packet logging. The HTT pktlog path calls ath11k_mac_get_ar_by_pdev_id() while active pdev objects are RCU-protected, but omits the read-side critical section needed to keep the returned object alive. Reachability requires high local privileges, an ath11k device, and packet logging; the bounded published impact is a kernel crash without data disclosure or modification.
