CVE-2023-52729Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Server crash via off-by-one null terminator write

Published May 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Buffer overflow in KashimAstro SimpleNetwork through 29bc615 allows remote attackers to crash the server via crafted TCP packets. TCPServer::Task writes a null terminator after received data fills the 40,960-byte global msg buffer, placing one byte beyond its end. No authentication or user interaction is required; the demonstrated consequence is process termination and service interruption, not data disclosure or modification.
