Kernel crash via unchecked writeback connector type
Published May 17, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 6.7 through 6.7.1 allows local users to crash the kernel through an AMD display writeback connector. create_validate_stream_for_sink fails to branch on the connector type before validation uses AMD-specific connector state that writeback connectors do not provide. A low-privileged local user must reach the AMD display writeback path; the documented consequence is an availability-only kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
