CVE-2023-52689

Service interruption via unlocked meter-level lookup

Published May 17, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Improper locking in the Linux kernel 6.7 ALSA scarlett2 driver allows local users to interrupt service through meter-level access. scarlett2_meter_ctl_get() reads shared meter_level_map[] state without holding data_mutex, permitting concurrent state changes during the lookup. Local access to the meter controls is required; public sources do not identify the interruption as a hang, crash, or reboot.
