Out-of-bounds read via unguarded LUT ceiling index
Published May 1, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel's VKMS driver introduced in 6.6 allows local users to read past a color lookup table. VKMS interpolation computes the ceiling LUT slot after the floor calculation even when the floor slot is the array's final entry, then dereferences the resulting out-of-range slot. Reachability requires local low-privileged access to a kernel with VKMS enabled; the published record establishes an over-read but not a specific disclosure or crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
