Local GPU hang via circular SRCU locking
Published Apr 2, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Deadlock in the amdkfd SVM subsystem in Linux allows local users to hang GPU workloads through access to KFD memory-management paths. The svm_range_deferred_list_work path calls mmput synchronously while its work item is active, so MMU-notifier SRCU synchronization closes a circular dependency through work flushing. Reachability requires local access to the AMD KFD device path, and the documented consequence is an availability interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
