Authenticated unrestricted upload via fileName manipulation
Published Sep 29, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in OpenRapid RapidCMS 1.3.1 allows remote authenticated users to write files via a crafted fileName value. The isImg function in /admin/config/uploadicon.php trusts attacker-controlled fileName input when deciding whether an icon upload is an image instead of validating the uploaded content. A valid low-privilege session is required, and a successful upload can place attacker-chosen content on the web server.
