Local kernel crash via null connection dereference
Published Mar 2, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL-pointer dereference in Linux kernel RDS 5.1 through 6.6-rc2 allows local users to crash the host during an RDMA connection event. rds_rdma_cm_event_handler_cmn() passes a missing connection pointer to rdma_set_service_type() without first confirming that the connection exists. Triggering requires local low-privileged access and an RDS RDMA connection event; the reported consequence is limited to service interruption.
