CVE-2023-5256Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via cached API error backtraces

Published Sep 28, 2023 · Updated Sep 23, 2024

Cache poisoning in Drupal core before 9.5.11, 10.0.11, or 10.1.4 allows remote authenticated users to expose cached error backtraces. HttpExceptionNormalizer treated verbose JSON API exception output as cacheable and omitted its dependency on the system.logging configuration. Exploitation requires JSON:API, verbose error reporting, and an authenticated account; exposed backtraces can disclose secrets that support privilege escalation.
