Suspend disruption via IRQ-unsafe memory allocation
Published Mar 2, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Availability flaw in the Linux kernel allows local users to disrupt suspend or hibernation on systems using Intel VT-d. The iommu_suspend() callback allocates four words with GFP_KERNEL while interrupts are disabled, allowing the allocation to re-enable interrupts during syscore suspend. Reaching this path requires local privileges to initiate suspend or hibernation; reported consequences are intermittent power-state failures and kernel warnings, not data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
