Local system hang via unpowered DMCUB command
Published Feb 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux kernel's AMD display driver allows local users to hang the system through DMCUB command submission. Direct calls to dm_execute_dmub_cmd and dm_execute_dmub_cmd_list submit commands without first leaving idle power optimization, so an unpowered DMCUB stalls processing. A low-privileged local user must reach the affected AMD display path; successful exploitation interrupts availability without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
