Kernel information disclosure via omitted Hygon SRSO flag
Published Feb 29, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Information disclosure in affected Linux kernel branches beginning with 4.20 allows local users to read kernel data through SRSO. The Hygon family 18h entry in arch/x86/kernel/cpu/common.c omits the SRSO flag, so the kernel does not select the available mitigation. Exploitation requires local access, a Hygon processor, a kASLR break, and usable kernel gadgets; the resulting side channel exposes kernel information.
