Hidden-image disclosure via unencrypted shared storage
Published Dec 31, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Missing authorization in Gallery3D on Tecno Camon X CA7 devices allows physically proximate attackers to read hidden images from shared storage. The app stores vault images as ordinary image content under Android/data/com.android.gallery3d/.privatealbum/.encryptfiles and relies on absent filename extensions rather than access controls to conceal them. Access requires a connected, file-transfer-enabled device and knowledge of the hidden directory, while the demonstrated impact is limited to image confidentiality.
