Domain-admin XSS via crafted filter rule
Published Dec 31, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Cross-site scripting in MDaemon SecurityGateway through 9.0.3 allows remote authenticated users to affect global administrators via crafted filtering rules. The Message Content Filtering rule value is stored and rendered in the filter preview tooltip without output encoding, so a JavaScript payload executes when the preview is opened. Domain administrators must be authenticated and induce a global administrator to view the rule; the demonstrated consequence is script execution in the administrator context, enabling cross-privilege attacks with confidentiality and integrity impact.
