Remote code execution via wildcard CORS
Published Dec 30, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Unified Remote 3.13.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary Lua code through its Remote upload endpoint without authentication. A wildcard Access-Control-Allow-Origin response permits cross-origin requests to that endpoint, which accepts Lua content and executes it. Remote unauthenticated access therefore enables code execution with confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.
