Remote code execution via unsandboxed Groovy filter
Published Jan 25, 2024 · Updated Sep 8, 2026
Code injection in Provectus Kafka UI 0.4.0 through 0.7.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through message filtering. MessageFilters.groovyScriptFilter compiles the q parameter as an unsandboxed Groovy script and evaluates it for a topic message. The endpoint is unauthenticated under the default configuration; enabling authentication requires a valid account, and a topic containing a message or creation of one triggers execution in the server process.
