CVE-2023-52161Network attack vector

Unauthorized network access via skipped EAPOL validation

Published Feb 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Authentication bypass in Intel iNet Wireless Daemon before 2.14 allows attackers to gain access to protected Wi-Fi networks. In AP mode, eapol_auth_key_handle accepts an out-of-order Msg4/4 containing an all-zero key without first validating Msg2/4. The attacker must be within wireless reach of an IWD-hosted access point, and successful exploitation admits unauthorized network traffic.
