CVE-2023-5214

Privilege escalation through undisclosed mechanism

Published Oct 6, 2023 · Updated Sep 19, 2024

Improper privilege management in Puppet Bolt before 3.27.4 allows remote authenticated users on an adjacent network to escalate privileges. Puppet has not published the affected component or the operation that mishandles privileges, so the exact escalation path remains undisclosed. Exploitation requires existing low privileges and adjacent-network access; it can alter protected resources across a security boundary, expose limited data, and does not interrupt service.
